Renewable Energy Way Forward PDF Print E-mail

Implementation of renewable energy solutions offers a chance for some restructuring within the Barbados economy.
According to Governor of the Central Bank, Dr De Lisle Worrell, such implementation would create greater job opportunities as well as opportunities for economic expansion in areas which did not exist before.
But Worrell cautioned alternative energy will not take firm root in the society unless the economics are right, suggesting that tax incentives may have to be considered if “at the initial stages it turns out that the economics are not yet right”.

Energy Tip!

Many appliances continue to draw a small amount of power when they are switched off. These "phantom" loads occur in most appliances that use electricity, such as VCRs, televisions, stereos, computers, and kitchen appliances. In the average home, 75% of the electricity used to power home electronics is consumed while the products are turned off. This can be avoided by unplugging the appliance or using a power strip and using the switch on the power strip to cut all power to the appliance.
